JADE WONG - HONG KONG

Jade Wong is a Hong Kong based designer graduated from Sheffield Hallam University. After completing her studies in jewellery and metalwork, she has undertaken various role in local jewellery community while continuing her practice as an independent jeweller. Her love for Japanese culture had brought her abroad to focus on Japanese Studies in the Tokyo, where she found inspiration for all her creations yet to come.

“Gemstone” Rings

When it comes to jewellery, some people will think of gemstones. However, before it becomes a dazzling masterpiece, it has to be carefully carved and polished. Beginning with the rough crystal, the process includes cutting, imagining the final shape, faceting, polishing and many more.

The production of clay requires processes such as crushing, kneading, shaping, glazing and firing. This is a physical process that draws forth appreciation for the art both visually and even spiritually.

The use of clay leaves a clear record of wear and tear, leading us to enjoy the beauty of flaws and rawness. By the use of clay in jewellery, one can enjoy the beauty of balance of perfection and imperfection.
