JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Jewellery Workshop Tutor & Gallery Assistant

About us

Obellery is a contemporary jewellery studio, gallery and workshop founded in 2014, based at PMQ in Central. We represent independent jewellery artists, produce our own collections, take bespoke commissions, and run hands-on silversmithing workshops.

We are a small team, led by a British-trained goldsmith. Everyone here works at the bench as well as front of house.

The role

  • Handle daily sales and provide quality customer service to gallery visitors and clients

  • Advise clients on our collections and our artists' work — materials, gemstones, craftsmanship, and fit

  • Manage the gallery floor, customer enquiries, and daily studio operations

  • Teach jewellery making workshops — we will train you, and you will work alongside our tutors before leading classes on your own

  • Prepare workshop materials and maintain tools and equipment

  • Assist with administration and our online presence (Instagram, newsletter)

Requirements

Essential

  • Hands-on jewellery making experience — you are comfortable at the bench and confident with your own work

  • Willing and able to learn to teach beginners

  • Professional jewellery knowledge, confident advising clients face to face

  • Fluent English and Cantonese

  • Previous full-time work experience in a studio, workshop, or retail environment

  • Available to work Saturday or Sunday

Advantageous

  • Experience teaching or demonstrating to small groups

  • High Diploma or above in Art and Design, or a Jewellery Design background

  • Mandarin

  • Knowledge of gemology

  • Photoshop, Illustrator, or Rhino

  • Retail or gallery experience

Who we are looking for

Our students and clients should leave feeling looked after. That takes someone who is:

  • Outgoing — comfortable approaching people and starting a conversation

  • Patient — able to guide a complete beginner through a difficult step without rushing them

  • Responsible — takes ownership of the floor and follows things through

  • Passionate about jewellery making — you care about craft and want to keep growing your skills

Hours

Full time: five days a week with two rest days, including Saturday or Sunday.

Part time: we are open to discussing days and hours with the right person. Weekend availability is essential.

What we offer

  • Training to become a workshop tutor, taught by a British-trained goldsmith

  • Five-day week with two rest days (full time)

  • 13th month salary on completion of one year of service (full time)

  • A hands-on role — you will be making and teaching, not standing behind a counter

  • The chance to work on bespoke commissions and learn advanced goldsmithing and stone-setting techniques

To apply

Send your CV, expected salary, your availability (full time or part time), and a short portfolio of your own work to hr@obellery.com.

Applications without evidence of hands-on jewellery making will not be considered.
